Yo Quiero Ser, as performed by Vicente Fernandez--Free Sheet Music

Good Afternoon all,

     Welcome to the Thirty-Seventh of the MACT Project, I hope everyone is doing well. Remember that the mactproject.org is a free Mariachi resource site where one can download free sheet music, all the time. Today we are presenting, Yo Quiero Ser, as performed by Vicente Fernandez.

One thing that stands out immediately about this song is the Guitar part: it is used as a Rhythmic instrument, muting the strings so that one could only hear a "chunking" sound and not chords.

Also, the Guitar part acts like a foundation for the Vihuela part. For the most part, the Vihuela arrangement becomes the "frosting" of the piece, allowing a sharp sprinkling of chords--the chords, within the song, hardly strays away from basic triad chords.

Overall, I have always enjoyed this number. It is both simple and elegant. We hope you enjoy it:

Cuando Estoy En Los Campos, as performed by Juan Gabriel

Hello all,

Welcome to the twenty-second MACT Project Presentation, Cuando Estoy En Los Campos, as performed by Juan Gabriel. This was a request that I was gladly to transcribe--a friend of mine has always wanted this arrangement and when I spoke to him about the MACT Project, he immediately requested this chart.

Personally, I enjoy listening, performing, and transcribing Juan Gabriel's music. Also, the arranger that Juan Gabriel has on his staff is top-notch and deserves recognition--if I knew his or her name, I would gladly give them props. On a side note, it would be fantastic to pick their brains about writing and arranging. Oh, to dream.

La Madrugada, as performed by Mariachi Cobre

Hello all,

This is the twenty-first MACT Project entry entitled, La Madrugada, as performed by Mariachi Cobre. Yes, one can agree that there are hundreds of recordings of this title, but the arrangement that Mariachi Cobre performs is quite streamlined and very efficient.

First, if one listens carefully to the accents given by the Armonia section, they are in balance, enhance, and supports, the melodic parts--both vocal and instrumental. As stated earlier, the melodic arrangements are straight-forward and or not too technical and falls into that a traditional Son, in my humble opinion, should song like. Lastly, I like this audio version because it sounds like a regular mariachi ensemble. Meaning: that if one and one's group were to practice this song well, one can come close to sounding as professional as Cobre.

Volar, Volar, As Performed by Mariachi Cobre

Greetings All,

For the Twelfth installment of the MACT Project, we present Volar, Volar, as performed by Mariachi Cobre.

I remember when the 25th Anniversary CD of Mariachi Cobre's work made it into my hands, some ten or twelve years ago, I was so excited that I had their CD on replay, for at least a week. The reason why I enjoyed their music was because I could relate to them; for the most part, the large majority of their members, at the time, were Mexican-American, or whatever term one chooses to designate said population. So, I felt more of a connection to them, than suppose, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, or others, where the vast majority of the people in their group are native born Mexicanos (granted, this was an assumption that I held, which in some cases, was not totally true.). Well, one of the songs that I played over and over again was Volar, Volar.

El Cucifijo de Piedra, as Performed by Linda Ronstadt

For the Eleventh installment of the MACT Project, I present Linda Ronstadt's Interpretation of El Crucifijo De Piedra. I guess that I don't need to point this out, however, this chart is for a female vocal. It is a bit challenging, for the singer if they are not used to singing in the upper register for a long time, but give it a shot.

First, I would like to thank everyone for supporting this site. I understand that a single person cannot do it alone, one needs the help of many to truly make an impact, in the Mariachi music scene. As a result, Mr. M. Cedillo, has guided us to a website run by Mariachi Juvenil Viajero, which contains additional Scores and charts for mariachi.

One thing: after clicking the site to upload, one is prompted to "chose" between two ways of uploading the music:

first; there is the Premium uploading version--which they say is faster by giving a list by list comparison, second; they have the Basic or Regular uploading version that takes between 4o to 45 seconds, between downloads (since I use Mac, I only had to wait for one 45 second cycle. I don't know how the process works with PC's, sorry).

Besides that, one can start downloading songs into one's library with little difficulty.

Recuerdo A Rocio--A Medley by Plucking Mingus

Greetings all,

For this fourth installment, I humbly propose something different, and special: a medley dedicated to Rocio Durcal.

When Rocio Durcal passed, I scrambled everywhere trying to find a medley of Rocio Durcal; looking through mountains of Mariachi CDs to no avail; and spoke to other mariacheros with no luck. The search was frustrating. Then, when my old mariachi group wanted to play a couple of Rocio Durcal numbers, I decided to write this medley, for the heck of it.
